[Machine] I heard Abu Usaid Al-Sa'idi and Ibn Abbas giving a fatwa (religious ruling) concerning the dinar. Abu Usaid strongly expressed his opinion, and Ibn Abbas said, "I did not expect anyone to know my close relationship to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say to me something like this, O Abu Usaid." Abu Usaid said, "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'The dinar should be exchanged with the dinar, the dirham with the dirham, the measure of wheat with the measure of wheat, the measure of barley with the measure of barley, and the measure of salt with the measure of salt. There should be no advantage in exchange of one for the other.'" Ibn Abbas said, "This is something I used to say based on my opinion, and I had not heard anything about it."

[Machine] I heard Abu Sa'id Al-Sa'idi and Ibn Abbas issuing a fatwa that a dinar should be exchanged for two dinars. Abu Usaid Al-Sa'idi replied to him angrily, saying, "I did not think that anyone knew of my close relationship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and would say such a thing to me, O Abu Usaid." Ibn Abbas then said, "I only said what I used to say before, as I have not heard anything about it." Abu Usaid said, "I testify that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'A dinar should be exchanged for a dinar, and a dirham for a dirham, and a measure of wheat for a measure of wheat, and a measure of barley for a measure of barley, and a measure of salt for a measure of salt. There should be no surplus or deficiency in any of these exchanges.'" Ibn Abbas said, "This is something I used to say, and I did not hear anything contrary to it."
