[Machine] A cousin of mine lived far away, so I suggested, "Why don’t you get a donkey or something for transportation?" He replied, "I wouldn’t like it if my house was next to the house of Muhammad ﷺ ." I found this statement from him quite unpleasant. Then it turned out that he was referring to the steps taken to the mosque. So he asked the Prophet ﷺ , who said, "For every step he takes, there is a degree (of reward)."
كَانَ ابْنُ عَمٍّ لِي شَاسِعَ الدَّارِ فَقُلْتُ لَوْ أَنَّكَ اتَّخَذْتَ حِمَارًا أَوْ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ بَيْتِي مُطَنَّبٌ بِبَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ فَمَا سَمِعْتُ عَنْهُ كَلِمَةً أَكْرَهَ إِلَيَّ مِنْهَا قَالَ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَذْكُرُ الْخُطَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ دَرَجَةً
