[Machine] We sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a military expedition, and he said, "If you capture so-and-so and so-and-so, burn them with fire." The next day, he sent for us and said, "I had commanded you to burn these two men, but then I realized that no one should be tortured with fire except Allah. So, if you capture them, kill them."

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ «إِنْ ظَفِرْتُمْ بِفُلَانٍ وَفُلَانٍ فَحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ» حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ الْغَدُ بَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِتَحْرِيقِ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ بِالنَّارِ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَإِنْ ظَفِرْتُمْ بِهِمَا فَاقْتُلُوهُمَا»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a military expedition, and I was among them. He said, "If you meet so-and-so and so-and-so, burn them with fire." After the Prophet ﷺ bid us farewell, he said, "I had commanded you to burn them with fire, but it is not appropriate for anyone to punish with the punishment of Allah except Him. So, if you meet them, kill them."

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ فَقَالَ «إِنْ لَقِيتُمْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا فَحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ فَلَمَّا وَدَّعَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ» قَالَ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَمَرْتُكُمْ أَنْ تُحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ بِعَذَابِ اللهِ غَيْرُهُ فَإِنْ لَقِيتُمُوهُمَا فَاقْتُلُوهُمَا»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a military expedition, and I was among them. He said, "If you encounter so-and-so and so-and-so, burn them with fire." بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ قَالَ «إِنْ لَقِيتُمْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا فَحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ» فَلَمَّا وَدَّعَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَمَرْتُكُمْ أَنْ تُحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ بِعَذَابِ اللهِ فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمَا فَاقْتُلُوهُمَا»

أَبُو هُرَيرة فيهم فقال إن لقيتم هبار بن الأسود ونافع بن عَبد عَمْرو فحرقوهما بالنار ولاَ تقتلوهما وكانا نخسا بزينب بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليهما حين خرجت من مكة إلى النَّبِيّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيه وَسَلَّم فلم تزل ضنية حتى ماتت فلما ودعنا النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم قَالَ إِنِّي كنت أمرتكم أن تحرقوا هبارا ونافعا فإنه لا ينبغي لأحد أن يعذب بعذاب الله فإن لقيتموهما فاقتلوهما
