"إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا كَانَ هَمُّهُ الدُّنْيا وَسَدَمَهُ أفْشَى اللهُ عَلَيه ضَيعتَهُ وَجَعَلَ فَقْرَهُ بَينَ عينَيهِ فَلَا يُصْبِحُ إِلَّا فَقِيرًا، ولا يُمْسِى إِلا فَقيرًا، وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا كَانَت الآخِرةُ هَمَّهُ وَسَدَمَهُ جَمَع اللهُ تَعَالى لَهُ ضيعَتَهُ، وجَعَلَ غنَاهُ في قَلبه فلا يُصْبِحُ إِلَّا غَنيًّا، وَلا يُمْسِي إِلَّا غَنِيًّا".
Obsession with worldly desires leaves one constantly anxious and unfulfilled
Those who are obsessed are never satisfied: (1) those who are obsessed with ˹sacred and salvific˺ knowledge are never satisfied with it, and (2) those who are obsessed with worldly possessions are never satisfied with them.
So, whoever makes the hereafter his concern, and devotes himself to it and focuses on it, Allah will take care of his worldly affairs, and He will put contentment in his heart. But whoever makes this world his concern, and devotes himself to it and focuses on it, Allah will expose his ruin, and He will make him ˹obsess over˺ his needs: such that he will not wake up except as a needy person, and he will not reach evening ˹while having pursued his needs˺ except as a needy person ˹anxious, feeling unfulfilled˺.
مَنْهُومَانِ لَا يَشْبَعَانِ مَنْهُومٌ فِي الْعِلْمِ لَا يَشْبَعُ مِنْهُ وَمَنْهُومٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَا يَشْبَعُ مِنْهَا فَمَنْ تَكُنِ الْآخِرَةُ هَمَّهُ وَبَثَّهُ وَسَدَمَهُ يَكْفِي اللَّهُ ضَيْعَتَهُ وَيَجْعَلُ غِنَاهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَمَنْ تَكُنِ الدُّنْيَا هَمَّهُ وَبَثَّهُ وَسَدَمَهُ يُفْشِي اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ضَيْعَتَهُ وَيَجْعَلُ فَقْرَهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ ثُمَّ لَا يُصْبِحُ إِلَّا فَقِيرًا وَلَا يُمْسِي إِلَّا فَقِيرًا
[Machine] "Indeed, if the servant's concern is the Hereafter, Allah will take care of his worldly affairs and make his contentment in his heart. But if his concern is the worldly life, Allah will scatter his affairs and make his poverty between his eyes. So he will go to bed poor and wake up poor."
«إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِنْ كَانَ هَمُّهُ الْآخِرَةَ كَفَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ضَيْعَتَهُ وَجَعَلَ غِنَاهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ هَمُّهُ الدُّنْيَا أَفْشَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ضَيْعَتَهُ وَجَعَلَ فَقْرَهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ؛ فَلَا يُمْسِي إِلَّا فَقِيرًا وَلَا يُصْبِحُ إِلَّا فَقِيرًا»
"إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَلقَى كِتَابَهُ (يَوْمَ الْقيَامَة) مَنْشُورًا، فَيَنْظرُ فِيهِ فَيَرَى حَسَنَات لَمْ يَعْمَلها، فَيقُول: يَا رَبِّ، أَنَّى هَذَا لي، وَلَمْ أَعْمَلها؟ فَيُقَالُ: هَذَا مَا اغْتَابكَ النَّاسُ، وَأَنْتَ لَا تَشْعُرُ".

2065 - " إن العبد إذا كان همه الآخرة كف الله تعالى عليه ضيعته وجعل غناه في قلبه، فلا يصبح إلا غنيًّا، ولا يمسى إلا غنيًّا، وإذا كان همه الدنيا أفشى الله تعالى عليه ضيعته وجعل فقره بين عينيه فلا يمسى إلا فقيرًا، ولا يصبح إلا فقيرًا".
