السيوطي:٥٤٢-٥b –

"حَدَّثَنَا هَدبَة بن خَالِد، ثَنَا وُهَيْب بن خَالِد، ثَنَا الْجَرِيرِى عَنْ حبان بن عُمَير قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَاعِز أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَل النَّبِىَّ ﷺ أَيُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: إِيمَانٌ بِالله، وَجِهَادٌ فِى سَبِيلِ الله، ثُمَّ ارْعَدت (*) فَخِذ السَّائِل ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَهْ ثُمَّ قَالَ: عَمَلٌ أَفْضَل مِنْ سَائِر الأَعْمَال إلَّا كَمثلِ حَجَّةٍ بارة، حَجَّةٍ بَارَّة".

[Machine] A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Which deeds are the best?" He said, "Believing in Allah and striving in His cause." Then he repeated his question. He said, "Then the best deed is performing righteous actions, except for the example of a perfect Hajj."
