That he had married Um Yahya bint Abu Ihab. He said. "A black slave-lady came and said, 'I suckled you both.' I then mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ who turned his face aside." ʿUqba further said, "I went to the other side and told the Prophet ﷺ about it. He said, 'How can you (keep her as your wife) when the lady has said that she suckled both of you (i.e. you and your wife?)" So, the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to divorce her.

أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ أَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي قَالَ فَتَنَحَّيْتُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قَالَ وَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنْ قَدْ أَرْضَعَتْكُمَا فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا

"I married Umm Yahya daughter of Abu Ihab. A black woman entered upon us. She said that she had suckled both of us. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and amentioned it to him. He turned away from me. I said (to him): Messenger of Allah! she is a liar. He said: What do you know? She has said what she has said. Separate yourself from her (wife).

تَزَوَّجْتُ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَيْنَا امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْنَا جَمِيعًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا لَكَاذِبَةٌ قَالَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ وَقَدْ قَالَتْ مَا قَالَتْ دَعْهَا عَنْكَ

[AI] He informed him or heard from him, if he did not disclose to him that he married the daughter of Abu Ihab, so a black slave woman said, "I have breastfed both of you." So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him, but he turned away from me. So I went to him again and mentioned it to him, and he said, "How could that be when she claimed that she breastfed both of you?" So he forbade me from her.

أَخْبَرَهُ أَوْ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ خَصَّهُ بِهِ أَنَّهُ نَكَحَ ابْنَةَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَقَالَتْ أَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَجِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَجِئْتُ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ فَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنْ قَدْ أَرْضَعَتْكُمَا فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا

[AI] I married the daughter of Abu Ihab, and a black woman came and claimed that she breastfed us. So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , stood in front of him, and spoke to him. But he turned away from me. I then moved to his right side, and he turned away from me again. So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, she is only black." He said, "And what does that matter when it has already been said

تَزَوَّجْتُ ابْنَةَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَجَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْنَا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَكَلَّمْتُهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا هِيَ سَوْدَاءُ قَالَ وَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ قِيلَ

"I married Umm Yahya daughter of Abu Ihab. A black woman entered upon us. She said that she had suckled both of us. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and amentioned it to him. He turned away from me. [AI] He married the daughter of Abi Ihab and a black woman claimed that she breastfed them. So I went to the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ and mentioned it to him, but he turned away from me. I then approached him from another side and said, "O Messenger of Allah, she is lying." He said, "How can that be when she claims to have breastfed both of you?" He forbade me from her. "

أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَزَعَمَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْهُمَا فَجِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي قَالَ فَجِئْتُهُ مِنَ الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا كَاذِبَةٌ قَالَ «فَكَيْفَ بِهَا وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْكُمَا» فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا «

[AI] He informed him or heard it from him, if he did not mention to him or inform him that he married Umm Yahya, the daughter of Abi Ihab. So, a black slave woman said to him, "I breastfed both of you." He said, "So, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him, but he turned away. I went to him a second time and mentioned it to him, and he said, 'How is that when she claimed that she breastfed both of you? He forbade it.'"

أَخْبَرَهُ أَو سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ خَصَّهُ أَنَّهُ نَكَحَ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءٌ قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا قَالَ فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ فَجِئْتُ إِلَيْهِ الثَّانِيَةَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «وَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَنَهَاهُ»

[AI] He married Umm Yahya, the daughter of Abi Ihab, and a black slave girl came and said, "I have breastfed both of you." He then went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him about it. The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. He mentioned it to him again, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "How can she claim that she breastfed both of you? She is prohibited from doing so."

أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَجَاءَتْ أَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا قَالَ فَجِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «وَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا»

[AI] He married a woman and a black slave girl came and claimed that she breastfed both of them. I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ and he turned away from it. Then he mentioned the second woman and said, "She is a liar." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said, "But how can it be when it has been said?"

أَنَّهُ نَكَحَ امْرَأَةً فَجَاءَتْ أَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْهُمَا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الثَّانِيَةَ وَقَالَ «إِنَّهَا كَاذِبَةٌ» وَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ «فَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ قِيلَ»

[AI] A companion of mine, who is also a companion of my friend Hafiz, informed me: "I married Umm Yahya bint Abi Ihab, and then a black woman entered upon us claiming that she had breastfed both of them." So, I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ , but he turned away from me. I mentioned it to him again, but he turned away from me. So, I said: "She is a liar." He said: "What makes you know that she is a liar and she has said what she said? Leave it alone."

وَحَدَّثَنِي صَاحِبٌ لِي وَأَنَا لِحَدِيثِ صَاحِبِي حَافَظٌ قَالَ تَزَوَّجْتُ أُمَّ يَحْيَى بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَيْنَا امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْهُمَا جَمِيعًا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهَا كَاذِبَةٌ فَقَالَ «وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّهَا كَاذِبَةٌ وَقَدْ قَالَتْ مَا قَالَتْ دَعْهَا عَنْكَ»

[AI] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I have married the daughter of Abu Ihab." Then, a black woman came and claimed that she breastfed us. The Messenger turned away from me, so I went to him from another side, but he turned away from me again. I faced him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, she is black!" And I belittled her importance. He said, "How is it possible, when it has been said [otherwise]?"

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ بِنْتَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَجَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْنَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَأَتَيْتُهُ عَنِ الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا سَوْدَاءُ فَجَعَلْتُ أُصَغِّرُ مِنْ شَأْنِهَا فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ وَقَدْ قِيلَ»
