"عَنْ مَوْلَى أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ: أَنَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ كَانَ يَرْكَبُ إِلَى مَالٍ لَهُ بِوَادِى الْقُرَى، وَكَانَ يَصُومُ الاثْنَيْنِ، وَالْخَمِيسَ، فَقُلتُ لَهُ: أَتَصُومُ وَقَدْ كبِرْتَ وَرَقَقْتَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّى رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ يَصومُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، وَالْخَمِيسِ، فَقُلتُ: يَا رَسُولَ الله! أَتَصُومُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، وَالْخَمِيسِ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الأعْمَالَ تُعْرَضُ عَلَى الله يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، وَالْخَمِيسِ".

[AI] He said, "Usama used to ride to his wealth in the Valley of Al-Qura. He used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays while on the journey. So, I said to him, 'Why do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays while traveling, considering your old age and the weakness or softness of your body?' He replied, 'Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, and he said, 'Verily, the deeds are presented [to Allah] on Mondays and Thursdays."'

The client of Usamah ibn Zayd said that he went along with Usamah to Wadi al-Qura in pursuit of his camels. He would fast on Monday and Thursday. His client said to him: Why do you fast on Monday and Thursday, while you are an old man? He said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Monday and Thursday. When he was asked about it, he said: The works of the servants (of Allah) are presented (to Allah) on Monday and Thursday. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2436)
