"لَا تُسَمِّهِ عَزِيزًا، وَلَكِن سَمِّه عبدَ الرَّحْمنِ؛ فَإِنَّ أحَبَّ الأَسْماءِ الله: عبدُ الله، وعبدُ الرحمنِ، والحارثُ".
[Machine] His father, Abdulrahman, went with his grandfather to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What is your son's name?" He replied, "Aziz." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not name him Aziz, but name him Abdulrahman." Then he said, "Indeed, the best names are Abdullah, Abdulrahman, and Al-Harith."
أَنَّ أَبَاهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ ذَهَبَ مَعَ جَدِّهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا اسْمُ ابْنِكَ؟ قَالَ عَزِيزٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تُسَمِّهِ عَزِيزًا وَلَكِنْ سَمِّهِ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْأَسْمَاءِ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَالْحَارِثُ
Your names which are dearest to Allah are ‘Abd Allah and ‘Abd al-Rahman. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4949)
"أَحَبُّ الأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللهِ: عبدُ اللهِ وعَبْدُ الرَّحمنِ والحارث.
