two are the things which I remember Messenger of Allah ﷺ having said: "Verily Allah has enjoined excellence to everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. So every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably."

ثِنْتَانِ حَفِظْتُهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ: فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ، وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الذَّبْحَ، وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ فَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ۔»

There are two characteristics that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah has decreed that everything should be done in a good way, so when you kill use a good method. The version of the narrators other than Muslim says: "So kill in a good manner." And when you slaughter, you should use a good method, for one of you should sharpen his knife, and give the animal as little pain as possible.

خَصْلَتَانِ سَمِعْتُهُمَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا قَالَ غَيْرُ مُسْلِمٍ يَقُولُ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الذَّبْحَ وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ وَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah has decreed Ihsan in everything. So when you kill, then do the killing well, and when you slaughter, then do the slaughtering well. Let one of you sharpen his blade, and let him comfort his animal (before slaughtering)."

"There are two things that I memorized from the Messenger of Allah, who said: 'Allah has decreed proficiency in all things, so when you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let one of you sharpen his blade and spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.'" (Sahih)

The version of the narrators other than Muslim says: "So kill in a good manner." And when you slaughter, you should use a good method, for one of you should sharpen his knife, and give the animal as little pain as possible. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2815)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ خَصْلَتَانِ سَمِعْتُهُمَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ كَتَبَ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الذَّبْحَ وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ وَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

There are two characteristics that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah has decreed that everything should be done in a good way, so when you kill use a good method. حَفِظْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ خَصْلَتَيْنِ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ كَتَبَ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الذِّبْحَةَ وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ وَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ

[AI] "Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, Allah is Good and He loves goodness. He has prescribed kindness in all things. So, when you kill, do it in the best manner, and when you slaughter, do it in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife and spare sufferings to the animal he slaughters.'"

اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ مِحْسَانٌ كَتَبَ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ وَإِذَا ذَبَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُحْسِنْ ذِبْحَتَهُ وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ وَلْيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ

two are the things which I remember Messenger of Allah ﷺ having said: "Verily Allah has enjoined excellence to everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. So every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably." (Using translation from Muslim 1955a)

"إِن الله تعالى كَتَبَ الإِحسانَ على كل شَيء، فإِذا قتلتُم فَأحسِنوا القِتْلَةَ، وَإذَا ذبحتم فَأَحْسِنوا الذِّبحةَ، ولْيُحِدَّ أَحدُكم شَفْرتَهُ، وَلْيُرِحْ ذبيحته".
