"عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الخَطَّابِ رآهُ وَهُوَ طَوِيلُ الشَّعرِ وَذَلِكَ بذِى الحُلَيْفَةِ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: وَأَنَا عَلَى نَاقَتِى وَأَنَا في ذِى الحِجَّةِ أُرِيدُ الحَجَّ، فَأمَرنِى أَنْ أقَصِّرَ مِنْ رَأسى، فَفَعَلتُ".
