"عن عمر قال: كونُوا أَوْعِيةَ الكتابِ وينابيَع العلمِ، وعُدُّوا أنْفُسَكم مع الموَتْى، وأسلِموا للَّه رزْقَ يومٍ بيومٍ، ولا يَضُرّكُمْ أن لا يكثُر لكم".

[Machine] Umar, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Be vessels of the book and sources of knowledge, and ask Allah for sustenance day by day, and it will not harm you if He reduces it for you."  

الزهد لأحمد:٦٣٢حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي خُلْدٍ قَالَ

قَالَ عُمَرُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ «كُونُوا أَوْعِيَةَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَنَابِيعَ الْعِلْمِ وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ رِزْقَ يَوْمٍ بِيَوْمٍ وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ أَنْ لَا يُكْثِرَ لَكُمْ»
