"عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّديقُ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَتَمَثَّل هَذَا الْبَيْتَ:

لا تَزالُ تَنْعَى حَبِيبًا حتَّى تَكونَهْ ... وَقَدْ يَرْجُو الفَتَى الرَّجَاءَ يَمُوتُ دُونَهْ".  

ابن سعد، [ش] ابن أبى شيبة [حم] أحمد في الزهد، وابن أبى الدنيا في ذكر الموت
