On thrones facing one another.  

˹reclining˺ upon couches, facing one another, so that they do not see the back of one another;
القرآن:٣٧:٤٤ –

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ  

{على سرر متقابلين} لا يرى بعضهم قفا بعض.
