nasai:5425ʿAlī b. Saʿīd b. Masrūq > Yaḥyá b. Abū Zāʾidah > Nāfiʿ b. ʿUmar > Ibn Abū Mulaykah

"There were two female neighbors who used to do leatherwork (with an awl) in At-Ta'if. One of them came out with her hand bleeding and claimed that her companion had injured her, but the other one denied it. I wrote to Ibn 'Abbas concerning that. He wrote, (saying) that the Messenger of Allah [SAW] ruled that the person against whom the claim was made should swear an oath. For if people were to be given what they claimed was theirs, then people would make claims against the wealth and blood of others." So he called her and recited this Verse to her: "Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter..." until the end of the Verse. He called her and recited that to her, and she confessed to that. News of that reached him and he was happy.

[Machine] About two women who had a dispute, one of them went out and claimed that her companion had hit her with a whip, while the other denied it. So Ibn Abbas wrote to me saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decided, "Verily, the right lies with the accused, and even if people were given to claim their oaths, then some among the people would claim the wealth and blood of others, but let her make an oath." So I recited to her: "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their own oaths for a small price - those will have no share in the Hereafter." She confessed, and he was pleased with that.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ decreed that the oath is in favor of the one who is being accused, and he said, "If people were given what they claim, people would claim the lives and properties of others. Therefore, recite upon them, 'Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price, they will have no portion in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.' " [Al-Imran: 77] So he recited it to them and they confessed, so he informed him and explained it.
