Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ having forbidden Muzabana, and Muzabana implies the selling of dry dates for fresh dates on the tree with a definite measure (making it clear) that in case it increases, it belongs to me and if it is less, it is my responsibility.

مسلم:١٥٤٢e – حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

ahmad:4490 – Ismāʿīl > Ayyūb > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited Muzabana, which is selling the dates on the trees based on a specified weight. If the dates increase, it is for the seller, and if they decrease, it is for the buyer. Ibn 'Umar narrated that Zaid ibn Thabit informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted the sale of 'araaya (a type of dates) based on their ripe condition.

أحمد:٤٤٩٠ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
