[Machine] I heard my father Buraida saying, "We were besieged in Khaybar, and Abu Bakr took the standard and went, but it was not opened for him. Then 'Umar took it and also went, but it was not opened for him. And the people faced severe hardship and exertion on that day. So the Messenger of Allah said, 'Tomorrow, I will give my standard to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he loves Allah and His Messenger. He will not return until it is opened for him.' And we spent the night having good thoughts that victory will come tomorrow. So when the morning came, the Messenger of Allah prayed the morning prayer, then he stood up and called for the standard and the people were standing in their ranks. There was no one among us with a position before the Messenger of Allah, except that he hoped to be the companion of the standard. So he called for 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, who had a limp, and he spat in his eyes and wiped it off, and then he handed him the standard. So Allah opened it for him, and he said, 'I am one of those who will breach it.'"

[Machine] We besieged Khaybar and the banner was taken by Abu Bakr, but he returned without it being opened for him. Then Umar took it from him, went out and returned without it being opened for him. That day the people suffered severity and hardship. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I will hand over the banner tomorrow to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he loves Allah and His Messenger. He will not return until it is opened for him." So we spent that night hoping for victory. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the morning prayer and stood up, he called for the banner and the people were in their positions. He called Ali while he was blind in both eyes. Ali got up and tears flowed from his eyes. He handed him the banner and it was opened for him. Buraida said, "I was among those who were optimistic about it."

[Machine] I heard my father Buraydah saying, "We were besieged in Khaybar, and Abu Bakr took command, but it was not opened for him. Then, Umar took command on the following day, but it was not opened for him either. On that day, the people faced great difficulty and exerted great effort. So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Tomorrow, I will hand over my flag to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he loves them, and it will not be returned until it is opened for him.' We spent the night in a state of anticipation that the victory would come the next day. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the morning prayer and stood up, he called for the flag and the people lined up behind him. There was not a single one of us who did not hope to be the one to carry the flag in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So, he called for Ali ibn Abi Talib, who was suffering from an inflamed eye. The Prophet ﷺ applied his saliva to Ali's eye, wiped it off, and handed him the flag. Allah opened Khaybar for him and he said, 'And I will be the one who will enter it.'"
