[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my brother is complaining of stomach pain." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give him honey to drink." So he gave him honey to drink, but it didn't alleviate his pain. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Allah spoke the truth, but your brother's stomach lied." It is narrated that Muhammad ibn Jafar told us, who told us Shu'bah, who narrated from Qatadah, who narrated from Abu al-Mutawakkil, who narrated from Abu Sa'id, who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ with a similar narration.  

الكبرى للنسائي:٧٥١٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخِي يَشْتَكِي بَطْنَهُ فَقَالَ «اسْقِهِ عَسَلًا» فَسَقَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلَّا اسْتِطْلَاقًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صَدَقَ اللهُ وَكَذَبَ بَطْنُ أَخِيكَ» 7518 وَقَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِهِ فَسَقَاهُ فَبَرِأَ

A man came to the prophet and said, 'My brother has got loose motions. The Prophet ﷺ said, Let him drink honey." The man again (came) and said, 'I made him drink (honey) but that made him worse.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Allah has said the Truth, and the ʿAbdomen of your brother has told a lie." (See Hadith No. 88)  

البخاري:٥٧١٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخِي اسْتَطْلَقَ بَطْنُهُ فَقَالَ اسْقِهِ عَسَلاً فَسَقَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلاَّ اسْتِطْلاَقًا فَقَالَ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَكَذَبَ بَطْنُ أَخِيكَ  

تَابَعَهُ النَّضْرُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ
ahmad:11871 – Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah And Ḥajjāj > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Abū al-Mutawakkil

Give him honey. So he gave him that and then came and said: I gave him honey but it has only made his bowels more loose. He said this three times; and then he came the fourth time, and he (the Holy Prophet) said: Give him honey. He said: I did give him, but it has only made his bowels more loose, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah has spoken the truth and your brother's bowels are in the wrong. So he made him drink (honey) and he was recovered. (Using translation from Muslim 2217a)  

أحمد:١١٨٧١ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخِي انْطَلَقَ بَطْنُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اسْقِهِ عَسَلًا فَسَقَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلَّا اسْتِطْلَاقًا فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍثُمَّ جَاءَهُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَقَالَ اسْقِهِ عَسَلًا فَقَالَ قَدْ سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلَّا اسْتِطْلَاقًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَدَقَ اللهُ وَكَذَبَ بَطْنُ أَخِيكَ فَسَقَاهُ فَبَرِئَ
