nasai-kubra:323 – ʿAmr b. ʿAlī > Yaḥyá > Sulaymān al-Taymī > Abū ʿUthmān > ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I have kissed a woman, what should I do?" So, the verse {And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night} [Hud 114] was revealed. The man asked, "Is it specifically for me?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It is for whoever from my nation that acts upon it."  

الكبرى للنسائي:٣٢٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَصَابَ مِنَ امْرَأَةٍ قُبْلَةً فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَا تَوْبَتِي فَنَزَلَتْ {وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ} [هود 114] تَلَا الْآيَةَ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ هِيَ لِي؟ قَالَ «هِيَ لِمَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ أُمَّتِي»

A man kissed a woman (unlawfully) and then went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. Allah revealed: And offer prayers perfectly At the two ends of the day And in some hours of the night (i.e. the five compulsory prayers). Verily! good deeds remove (annul) the evil deeds (small sins) (11.114). The man asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Is it for me?" He said, "It is for all my followers."  

البخاري:٥٢٦ – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَصَابَ مِنَ امْرَأَةٍ قُبْلَةً فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {أَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ طَرَفَىِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ} فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَلِي هَذَا قَالَ: «لِجَمِيعِ أُمَّتِي كُلِّهِمْ۔»

A man kissed a woman and then came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him of that, so this Divine Inspiration was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ 'And offer Prayers perfectly at the two ends of the day, and in some hours of the night; (i.e. (five) compulsory prayers). Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (small sins) That is a reminder for the mindful.' (11.114) The man said, Is this instruction for me only?' The Prophet ﷺ said, "It is for all those of my followers who encounter a similar situation."  

البخاري:٤٦٨٧ – حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ هُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ

" And observe prayer at the (two) ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Surely, good deeds take away evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful" (xi. 115). That person said: Messenger of Allah, does it concern me only? He (the Holy Prophet) said: It concerns every one of my Unimah, who acts according to it.

that a man unlawfully kissed a woman. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him about its atonement. So (the following) Ayah was revealed: And perform the Salat, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night (11:114). The man said: "Is this for me O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "For you and for whoever does that among my Ummah."  

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.
الترمذي:٣١١٤ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَصَابَ مِنَ امْرَأَةٍ قُبْلَةَ حَرَامٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ كَفَّارَتِهَا فَنَزَلَتْ ( أَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ) فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ أَلِيَ هَذِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ لَكَ وَلِمَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ أُمَّتِي  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

“And perform prayers at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. ابن ماجة:٤٢٥٤ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ قُبْلَةً فَجَعَلَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ كَفَّارَتِهَا فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَهُ شَيْئًا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاَةَ طَرَفَىِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ذَلِكَ ذِكْرَى لِلذَّاكِرِينَ} فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلِي هَذِهِ فَقَالَ هِيَ لِمَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ أُمَّتِي
