Yahya related to me from Malik that Abdullah ibn Dinar said, "I heard Abdullah ibn Umar recite from the Qur'an, 'Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at the beginning of their idda.'" Malik said, "He meant by that, to make one pronouncement of divorce at the beginning of each period of purity."
"O Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at their 'Iddah (prescribed periods)." Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Before their 'Iddah elapses." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3393)

[AI] I heard Abdullah, son of Umar ibn al-Khattab, read (O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period).
[AI] "You disobeyed your Lord, and your wife has confessed to not fearing Allah, so He will make a way out for you. Then He recited, 'O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period." [Surah At-Talaq, verse 1] in the acceptance of their waiting period."
