Messengerof Allah, I see on the face of Abu Hudhaifa (signs of disgust) on entering of Salim (who is an ally) into (our house), whereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Suckle him. She said: How can I suckle him as he is a grown-up man? Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: I already know that he is a young man 'Amr has made this addition in his narration that he participated in the Battle of Badr and in the narration of Ibn 'Umar (the words are): Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed.  

مسلم:١٤٥٣a – حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

جَاءَتْ سَهْلَةُ بِنْتُ سُهَيْلٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مِنْ دُخُولِ سَالِمٍ وَهُوَ حَلِيفُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَرْضِعِيهِ قَالَتْ وَكَيْفَ أُرْضِعُهُ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ زَادَ عَمْرٌو فِي حَدِيثِهِ وَكَانَ قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

"Sahlah bint Suhail came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'I see (displeasure) in the face of Abu Hudhaifah when Salim enters upon me.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Breast-feed him.' She said: 'How can I breast-feed him when he is a grown man?' He said: 'Don't I know that he is a grown man?' Then she came after that and said: 'By the One Who sent you with the truth as a Prophet, I have never seen anything I dislike on the face of Abu Hudhaifah after that.'"  

النسائي:٣٣٢٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

“Sahlah bint Suhail came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I see signs of displeasure on the face of Abu Hudhaifah when Salim enters upon me.” The Prophet said: “Breastfeed him.” She said: “How can I breastfeed him when he is a grown man? The Messenger of Allah smiled and said: “I know that he is a grown man.” So she did that, then she came to the Prophet and said: “I have never seen any signs of displeasure on the face of Abu Hudhayfah after that.” And he was present at (the battle of) Badr.  

ابن ماجة:١٩٤٣ – حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مِنْ دُخُولِ سَالِمٍ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ أَرْضِعِيهِ فَقَالَتْ كَيْفَ أُرْضِعُهُ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ؟ فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُاللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَلَسْتُ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ شَيْئًا أَكْرَهُهُ  

bayhaqi:15647 – Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf al-Aṣbahānī > Abū Saʿīd Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. Ziyād al-Baṣrī Bimakkah > al-Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. al-Ṣabbāḥ al-Zaʿfarānī > Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. al-Qāsim from his father > ʿĀʾishah

[Machine] Sahlah, the daughter of Suhail bin Amr, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I see from the face of my father Hudhaifah something that I dislike from Salim's entrance upon me." He ﷺ said, "Breastfeed him." She said, "Even though he is an old man?" He chuckled and said, "Don't you know that he is an old man?" She then came to him afterwards and said, "I have not seen anything that I dislike from Hudhaifah's face anymore."  

البيهقي:١٥٦٤٧ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ أنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ أنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ نا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ

جَاءَتْ سَهْلَةُ بِنْتُ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مِنْ دُخُولِ سَالِمٍ عَلَيَّ قَالَ أَرْضِعِيهِ قَالَتْ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ؟ فَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ أَلَسْتُ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ؟ قَالَتْ فَأَتَتْهُ بَعْدُ وَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ بَعْدُ شَيْئًا أَكْرَهُهُ
