Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia ibn Abd ar-Rahman from Handhala ibn Qays az-Zuraqi from Rafi ibn Khadij that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade renting out fields. Handhala said, "I asked Rafi ibn Khadij, about paying in gold and silver, and he said, 'There is no harm in it.' "
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ قَالَ حَنْظَلَةُ فَسَأَلْتُ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَلاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the renting of land. I said: Is it forbidden (even if it is paid) in gold (dinar) and silver (dirham)? Thereupon he said: If it is paid in gold and silver, there is no harm in it.
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الأَرْضِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ أَبِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَلاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the leasing of land. I asked: (Did he forbid) for gold and silver (i.e. dinars and dirhams)? He replied: If it is against gold and silver, then there is no harm in it.
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الأَرْضِ فَقُلْتُ أَبِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَلاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the leasing of land. I asked: (Did he forbid) for gold and silver (i.e. dinars and dirhams)? He replied: If it is against gold and silver, then there is no harm in it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3393)
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْأَرْضِ» فَقُلْتُ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ؟ فَقَالَ «أَمَّا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited renting land. I said, "What about gold and silver?" He replied, "As for gold and silver, there is no problem with them."
