malik:28-51 – Yaḥyá > Mālik > Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl > Anas b. Mālik

Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd at-Tawil from Anas ibn Malik that Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he had a traceof yellow on him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked about it. He told him that he had just been married. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How much did you hand over to her?" He said, "The weight of a date pit in gold." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Hold a feast, even if it is only with a sheep.  

مالك:٢٨-٥١ – وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَبِهِ أَثَرُ صُفْرَةٍ فَسَأَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَمْ سُقْتَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ زِنَةَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ

ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿAuf came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he had marks of Sufra (yellow perfume). Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him (about those marks). ʿAbdurRahman bin ʿAuf told him that he had married a woman from the Ansar. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "How much Mahr did you pay her?" He said, "I paid gold equal to the weight of a date stone." Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Give a wedding banquet, even if with one sheep."

[Machine] Abdul Rahman ibn Auf came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a yellow mark on his body, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him about it. Abdul Rahman ibn Auf informed him that he had married a woman from the Ansar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him how much he had given as mahr (dowry) to her. Abdul Rahman ibn Auf replied, "The weight of a date stone made of gold." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Have you done this even if it was just with a sheep?"  

البيهقي:١٤٤٩٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مَالِكٌ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدُوسٍ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ فِيمَا قَرَأَ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
