33.40 The duty of Jihad is waived for those who have excuses

٣٣۔٤٠ باب سُقُوطِ فَرْضِ الْجِهَادِ عَنِ الْمَعْذُورِينَ،

(1240) bukhari:2831Abū al-Walīd > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq > al-Barāʾ

When the Divine Inspiration: "Those of the believers who sit (at home), was revealed the Prophet ﷺ sent for Zaid (bin Thabit) who came with a shoulder-blade and wrote on it. Ibn Um-Maktum complained about his blindness and on that the following revelation came: "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) except those who are disabled (by injury, or are blind or lame etc.) and those who strive hard and fight in the Way of Allah with their wealth and lives)." (4.95)  

(١٢٤٠) البخاري:٢٨٣١حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ ؓ يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {لاَ يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ} دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ زَيْدًا فَجَاءَ بِكَتِفٍ فَكَتَبَهَا وَشَكَا ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ضَرَارَتَهُ فَنَزَلَتْ {لاَ يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ }
