“I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a man from among the Ansar came to him and greeted the Prophet ﷺ with Salam. Then he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which of the believers is best?’ He said: ‘He who has the best manners among them.’ He said: ‘Which of them is wisest?’ He said: ‘The one who remembers death the most and is best in preparing for it. Those are the wisest.’”

ابن ماجة:٤٢٥٩ – حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَىُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا قَالَ فَأَىُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْيَسُ قَالَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْمَوْتِ ذِكْرًا وَأَحْسَنُهُمْ لِمَا بَعْدَهُ اسْتِعْدَادًا أُولَئِكَ الأَكْيَاسُ

[Machine] By knowledge about it, if Allah wills, he said, "I was among the ten in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Ibn Mas'ood, Hudhaifah, Ibn Awf, and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri. Then a young man from the Ansar came and greeted the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and sat down. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, which of the believers is the best?" He said, "The one with the best character." He said, "Which of the believers is the most intelligent?" He said, "Those who remember death the most and are best prepared for it. They are the most intelligent." Then the young man remained silent.

الحاكم:٨٦٢٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثَنَا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو مَعْبَدٍ حَفْصُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فَأَتَاهُ فَتًى يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ إِسْدَالِ الْعِمَامَةِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَأُخْبِرُكَ

عَنْ ذَلِكَ بِعِلْمٍ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى قَالَ كُنْتُ عَاشِرَ عَشَرَةٍ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ وَعَلِيٌّ وَابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَحُذَيْفَةُ وَابْنُ عَوْفٍ وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ فَجَاءَ فَتًى مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا» قَالَ فَأَيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْيَسُ؟ قَالَ «أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْمَوْتِ ذِكْرًا وَأَحْسَنُهُمْ لَهُ اسْتِعْدَادًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ بِهِمْ أُولَئِكَ مِنَ الْأَكْيَاسِ» ثُمَّ سَكَتَ الْفَتَىصحيح
