“It is not permissible for a man to give a gift then take it back, except what a father gives to his child.”  

ابن ماجة:٢٣٧٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلاَّدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ يَرْفَعَانِ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَحِلُّ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said: It is not lawful for a man to make a donation or give a gift and then take it back, except a father regarding what he gives his child. One who gives a gift and then takes it back is like a dog which eats and vomits when it is full, then returns to its vomit. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3539)   

أحمد:٤٨١٠حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ يَعْنِي الْمُعَلِّمَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ

أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَفَعَاهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ الْعَطِيَّةَ فَيَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلَّا الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِيوَلَدَهُ وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ أَكَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فِي قَيْئِهِ

[Machine] Narrated by Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas that they reported a Hadith to the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "It is not permissible for a man to give a gift."
