I heard Abu Burdah say: I heard ʿAli bin Abi Talib ؓ say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿSay: O Allah, I ask You for guidance and proper aim. When you ask for guidance, think of directions when travelling, and when you ask for proper aim, think of aiming an arrow.” And he forbade - or forbade me - to wear garments made from a blend of linen and silk, to use red saddle cloths, or to wear a ring on the forefinger or middle finger.
