ذِكْرُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا فَعَلَ ﷺ مَا وَصَفْنَاهُ

ibnhibban:806 – Khālid b. al-Naḍr al-Qurashī Bi-al-Baṣrah And Ibn Khuzaymah > Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > ʿAbd al-Aʿlá > Saʿīd > Qatādah > al-Ḥasan > Ḥuḍayn b. al-Mundhir > Muhājir b. Qunfudh

Muhajir came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was urinating. He saluted him. The Prophet ﷺ did not return the salutation to him until he performed ablution. He then apologised to him, saying: I disliked remembering Allah except in the state of purification. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 17)  

ابن حبّان:٨٠٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْقُرَشِيُّ بِالْبَصْرَةِ وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ حُضَيْنِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ مُهَاجِرِ بْنِ قُنْفُذٍ

أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ اعْتَذَرَ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ إِلَّا عَلَى طُهْرٍ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى طَهَارَةٍ»

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِنَّمَا أَخْرَجَ مُسْلِمٌ حَدِيثَ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَرَّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ اعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ إِلَّا عَلَى طُهْرٍ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى طَهَارَةٍ «» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ على شرطهما

أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ اعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ إِلَّا عَلَى طُهْرٍ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى طَهَارَةٍ»
