ibnhibban:6668Abū Yaʿlá > ʿAbd al-Aʿlá b. Ḥammād > Muʿtamir b. Sulaymān > Dāwud b. Abū Hind > Abū Ḥarb b. Abū al-Aswad al-Dīlī from his uncle > Abū Dhar > Atānī Nabī Allāh ﷺ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was sleeping in the mosque in Medina. He hit me with his foot and said, "Do you not see yourself sleeping here?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, my eyes overpowered me." He said, "So what will you do if you are expelled from here?" I said, "What can I do, O Prophet of Allah, shall I strike them with my sword?" Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Shall I not guide you to what is better for you than that and more correct in guidance? You listen to them, obey them, and follow them wherever they guide you."

I said, "O Prophet of Allah, my eyes overcame me." He asked, "What will you do when you are taken out of here?" I said, "I will go to the blessed and sacred land of Sham (Syria)." He asked, "What will you do when you are taken out of Sham?" I said, "I will go back to it." He asked, "What will you do when you are taken out of there?" I said, "What else can I do, O Prophet of Allah, except fight with my sword?" So, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Shouldn't I show you what is better for you than that and closer to guidance? Listen and obey, and follow them wherever they lead you."
