ذِكْرُ السَّبَبِ الَّذِي مِنْ أَجْلِهِ أَلْقَى مُوسَى الْأَلْوَاحَ

ibnhibban:6213 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > Surayj b. Yūnus > Hushaym > Abū Bishr > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "News is not the same as seeing. Allah said to Moses, 'Indeed, your people have done such and such,' but when he did not meet with satisfaction, when he witnessed, he cast down the tablets."  

ابن حبّان:٦٢١٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَيْسَ الْخَبَرُ كَالْمُعَايَنَةِ قَالَ اللَّهُ لِمُوسَى إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ صَنَعُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا فَلَمَّا يُبَالِ فَلَمَّا عَايَنَ أَلْقَى الْأَلْوَاحَ»

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Seeing with one's own eyes is not the same as hearing a report." Allah said to Moses, "Indeed, your people have been tempted and they did not cast down the tablets. So when he saw, he threw down the tablets and broke them."
