ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ ثَانٍ يُصَرِّحُ بِأَنَّ اسْتِعْمَالَ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ مَا وَصَفْنَاهُ كَانَ عَلَى سَبِيلِ التَّفَاؤُلِ لَا التَّطَيُّرِ

ibnhibban:5827Abū Yaʿlá > Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm Abū Isrāʾīl > ʿAbd al-Ṣamad > Hishām b. Abū ʿAbdullāh > Qatādah > Ibn Buraydah from his father

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to not disdain anything except that when he wanted to go to a land, he would inquire about its name. If its name was good, it would reflect on his face, and if it was bad, it would show on his face."  

ابن حبّان:٥٨٢٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يَتَطَيَّرُ مِنَ شَيْءٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَرْضًا سَأَلَ عَنِ اسْمِهَا فَإِنْ كَانَ حَسَنًا رُئِيَ الْبِشْرُ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَبِيحًا رُئِيَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ»

If the name was good, it showed on his face, and if it was bad, it also showed on his face.
