ibnhibban:4322Ibn Qutaybah > Ḥarmalah b. Yaḥyá > Ibn Wahb > Yūnus > Ibn Shihāb > Nabhān a freed slave of Um Salamah > Um Salamah Kātabath Fabaqī from Kitābatih Alfā Dirham

[Machine] "Um Salama had written it and there remained one thousand dirhams from his writing." Nabhān said, "I used to hold it so that it would not be concealed from me." Um Salama said, "So I reasoned and saw her in the desert and she asked me, 'Who is this?' I said, 'I am Abu Yahya.' She said to me, 'Which of my sons are you calling to me, the son of my brother Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abu Umama, and you are fulfilling what is due upon you in his marriage, and I am reciting the blessings upon you.' I cried and woke up and said, 'By Allah, I will never give it to him.' She said, 'My son, indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If one of you has something that needs to be fulfilled from her writing, then hide it. By Allah, you will not see me unless you see me in the Hereafter.'"

[Machine] "I drive it in the desert or in the plains," she said. "Who is this?" I said, "I am Nabhan." She then said, "I have left the remaining of your correspondence for my nephew Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Umaiyah. I have helped him with it in his marriage." I said, "No, by Allah, I will never hand it over to him." She said, "If your oath is to enter upon me or to see me, then by Allah, you will never see me. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'If there is anything to be delivered to a messenger, then take precautionary measures against it.'"
