[AI] His sister was under a man, then he divorced her and kept away from her until her waiting period expired. Then he approached to propose to her, but a fortification prevented him from it, and he said, "He kept away from her while he was able to marry her." So, something happened between him and her, and Allah revealed (And when you divorce women and they have fulfilled their term, do not prevent them from remarrying their [former] husbands if they agree among themselves on an acceptable basis) [Quran 2:232].

ابن حبّان:٤٠٧١أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ

كَانَتْ أُخْتُهُ تَحْتَ رَجُلٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا ثُمَّ خَلَّى عَنْهَا حَتَّى انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا ثُمَّ قَرَّبَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَحَمِيَ مَعْقِلٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ خَلَّى عَنْهَا وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهَا فَحَالَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمِ النِّسَاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَاضَوْا بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ}

When you divorce women and they have reached their set time, do not prevent them from remarrying their husbands if they both agree to do so in a fair manner. Let those of you who believe in God and the Last Day take this to heart: that is more wholesome and purer for you. God knows and you do not.

Wa-izaa tallaqtumun nisaaa'a fabalaghna ajalahunna falaa ta'duloo-hunna aien yankihna azwaaja-hunna izaa taraadaw bainahum bilma'roof:(i) zaalika yoo'azu bihee man kaana minkum yu'minu billaahi wal-yawmil aakhir:(i) zaalikum azkaa lakum wa-at-har:(u) wallaahu ya'lamu wa-antum laa ta'lamoon

وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَن يَنكِحْنَ أَزْوَٰجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَٰضَوْا۟ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِۗ ذَٰلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ مِنكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِۗ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَزْكَىٰ لَكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

[AI] To return her, but if he prevents her, a place of refuge has been set up for her.
