ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ رَابِعٍ يُصَرِّحُ بِأَنَّ الْوِتْرَ غَيْرُ فَرْضٍ

ibnhibban:2413 – ʿUmar b. Saʿīd b. Sinān > Aḥmad b. Abū Bakr > Mālik > Abū Bakr b. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Saʿīd b. Yasār

“I was with Ibn ‘Umar and I lagged behind and prayed Witr. He said: ‘What kept you?’ I said: ‘I was praying Witr.’ He said: ‘Do you not have the best of examples in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ I said: ‘Of course.’ He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Witr while riding his camel.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1200)   

ابن حبّان:٢٤١٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَسِيرُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بِطَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ فَلَمَّا خَشِيتُ الصُّبْحَ نَزَلْتُ فَأَوْتَرْتُ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَيْنَ كُنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ خَشِيتُ الْفَجْرَ فَنَزَلْتُ فَأَوْتَرْتُ فَقَالَ «أَلَيْسَ لَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُسْوَةٌ؟ » فَقُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ «فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَى الْبَعِيرِ»

أَمَا لَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ
