ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَنِ الْحَالَةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا: {لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ}

[Machine] The woman from the Ansar used to barely have a son to live for. She would vow that if she had a son who survived, she would make him Jewish. But when the Banu Nadir were expelled, among them were some people from the sons of the Ansar. So the Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, these are our children." So Allah revealed this verse, "There is no compulsion in religion." Sa'id bin Jubayr said, "So whoever wanted to join them could do so, and whoever wanted to enter Islam could do so."

[Machine] In his saying "{There shall be no compulsion in religion}" [Al-Baqarah 256], it is said that a woman from the Ansar tribe had no surviving children and she would swear that if she had a child, she would raise him as a Jew. Then, when the Banu Nadir tribe was expelled, there were some people among them who were from the sons of the Ansar tribe. So the Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, our children!" Then Allah revealed "{There shall be no compulsion in religion}" [Al-Baqarah 256]. Sa'id bin Jubayr said, "Whoever wants can join them (the Banu Nadir) and whoever wants can enter Islam."
