If any one of you is invited, he should accept (the invitation). In case he is fasting, he should pray (in order to bless the inmates of the house), and if he is not fasting he should eat. (Using translation from Muslim 1431)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُصَلِّ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِرًا فَلْيَطْعَمْ»  

[Machine] "We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on Fridays. There was a woman among us who would make a dish of turnips. So, when it was Friday, she would pull out the turnip roots and put them in a pot, then she would put a handful of barley over them and grind everything together. That turnip dish would become tasty." Sahl said, "So, after offering the Friday prayer, we would go to her and greet her, and she would bring that food closer to us, and we would lick it. We used to hope for that food on Fridays."  

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ تَكُونُ الْقَائِلَةُ وَكَانَتْ فِينَا امْرَأَةٌ فَكَانَتْ تَجْعَلُ فِي مَزْرَعَةٍ لَهَا سِلْقًا فَكَانَتْ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ تَنْزِعُ أُصُولَ السِّلْقِ فَتَجْعَلُهُ فِي قِدْرٍ ثُمَّ تَجْعَلُ عَلَيْهِ قَبْضَةً مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَتَطْحَنُهَا فَيَكُونُ ذَلِكَ السِّلْقُ عُرَاقَةً» قَالَ سَهْلٌ فَكُنَّا نَنْصَرِفُ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَنُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهَا فَتُقَرِّبُ ذَلِكَ الطَّعَامَ إِلَيْنَا فَنَلْعَقُهُ قَالَ فَكُنَّا نَتَمَنَّى يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لِطَعَامِهَا ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] About the baby, they dyed a cotton ball with the blood of a sacrificial animal. Then, when they shaved the baby's head, they placed it on his head. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Make the place of the blood a creation."  

عَنِ الصَّبِيِّ خَضَبُوا قُطْنَةً بِدَمِ الْعَقِيقَةِ فَإِذَا حَلَقُوا رَأْسَ الصَّبِيِّ وَضَعُوهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اجْعَلُوا مَكَانَ الدَّمِ خَلُوقًا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sacrificed two lambs for Hassan and Hussein.  

«عَقَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ حَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ بِكَبْشَيْنِ»  

[Machine] We entered upon Hafsah bint Abdurrahman and asked her about 'Aqiqah. She informed us that Aisha informed her that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For a boy, two sheep, and for a girl, one sheep."  

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَسَأَلْنَاهَا عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ فَأَخْبَرَتْنَا أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ»  

[Machine] Abu Hatim, who is a trustworthy Egyptian sheikh from Yafi'i, narrated from Ibn Jurayj, who narrated from Yahya bin Sa'id, who narrated from 'Amrah, who narrated from Aisha. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the 'aqiqa for Hassan and Hussein on the seventh day, named them, and ordered that their heads be shaved."  

أَبُو حَاتِمٍ «وَهُوَ الْيَافِعِيُّ شَيْخٌ ثِقَةٌ مِصْرِيٌّ» عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ «عَقَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ حَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ يَوْمَ السَّابِعِ وَسَمَّاهُمَا وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يُمَاطَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ الْأَذَى»  

[Machine] "She heard the Prophet ﷺ say about a newborn boy, 'Two sheep as a sacrifice, and about a newborn girl, one sheep, it does not harm you whether it is male or female.'"  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي الْعَقِيقَةِ قَالَ «عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ ذُكْرَانًا كُنَّ أَوْ إِنَاثًا»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say about 'Aqiqah, "For a boy, two equivalent sheep, and for a girl, one sheep." So I asked him, "Does it mean giving something in return for the two equivalent sheep?" He replied, "Yes, two males are more beloved to him than their females."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي الْعَقِيقَةِ «عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مُكَافِئَتَانِ وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ» فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَعْنِي عَطَاءً مَا الْمُكَافِئَتَانِ؟ قَالَ مِثْلَانِ ذُكْرَانُهُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ إِنَاثِهِمَا
