[Machine] A man from the tribe of Banu Zuhrah met Umar before he accepted Islam, while he was imitating with a sword. Umar asked him, "Where are you heading?" He replied, "I intend to kill Muhammad." Umar said, "Shouldn't I guide you to something surprising? O Umar, your sister and her husband have embraced Islam and left their previous religion." Umar became furious and walked towards them with anger. When he reached their house, he heard a man named Khabbab reciting surah Taha to them. As soon as Khabbab heard Umar's footsteps, he hid under their bed. Umar entered the house and asked, "What was that whispering I heard from you two?" They replied, "We were discussing something privately." Umar said, "Perhaps you have both embraced Islam and left your religion." Then, Sa'id bin Zaid, Umar's sister's husband, said to him, "O Umar, what if the truth is not in your religion?" Umar became enraged and attacked him violently. His sister tried to intervene, but Umar struck her face and caused it to bleed. She said in her anger, "O Umar, what if the truth is not in your religion? I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." When Umar lost hope in making them renounce Islam, he said, "Give me the book you have." His sister told him that he is impure and only the purified can touch the book. Umar was told to wash or perform ablution before touching it.
