[Machine] Kaab narrated to me a story, and I have always found his narratives to be reliable. Except for this particular one, where he told me, "A man from Thaqif will kill me." Al-A’mash said, "And how does he know that Allah will abandon him and hide from him?" Adh-Dhahabi remained silent regarding this matter in his summary.  

الحاكم:٦٣٣٣ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شِمْرِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْبَرِيدُ الَّذِي أَتَى ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ بِرَأْسِ الْمُخْتَارِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ قَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ مَا

حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبٌ بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا وَجَدْتُ مِصْدَاقَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَنِي «أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ سَيَقْتُلُنِي» قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ «وَمَا يَدْرِي أَنَّ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ خَذَلَهُ اللَّهُ خَبَّأَ لَهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
