hakim:4063al-Ḥasan b. Muḥammad al-Isfarāyīnī > Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. al-Barāʾ > ʿAbd al-Munʿim b. Idrīs from his father > And Suʾil Wahb b. Munabbih

[Machine] "Regarding Hud, was Abu Al-Yaman the one who was born to them?" So Wahb said, "No, but he is the brother of Al-Yaman, and in the Torah, he is attributed to Noah. When tribalism arose among the Arabs and Muzar claimed that Ismail was the father of Yemen, so that he could be considered among the prophets and his offspring among them, even though he was not their actual father but their brother, and he was only sent to Aad. Wahb did not consider Muzar to be from Aad nor did he attribute their tribes to him, nor did he command their poets. On Earth, there was no nation that exceeded them in number, size, or strength. So when they saw the approaching wind, they said to Hud, "You frighten us with the wind." So they gathered their children, wealth, and livestock in a valley and stood at the entrance of that valley to protect their belongings and families from the wind. But the wind entered under their feet and swept them away." Wahb said, "When Allah sent Hud, son of Abdullah, son of Rabah, son of Harith, son of Aad, son of Awas, son of Iram, son of Sam, son of Noah, Allah scattered every particle of their sand and made it a part of the land. The dwellings of Aad were in its sands, and the land of Aad was the most fertile and abundant with fields, rivers, and gardens among the lands of the Arabs. But when Allah became angry with them and they transgressed against Him, as they were worshipping idols besides Allah, Allah sent upon them the barren wind." The narration ends here according to Al-Dhahabi's summary.
