[Machine] On the authority of Sahl bin Saad Al-Saa'idi, who met and heard from the Prophet ﷺ when he was fifteen years old, at the time of the Prophet's death. He said, "Ubay bin Ka'b informed me that the fatwa they used to issue regarding the saying of Allah 'Water from water' was initially permitted by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the beginning of Islam. Then he commanded them to perform ablution after that." Abdullah (bin Mas'ud) said, and others also said, "Al-Zuhri narrated to me from some who were pleased with Sahl bin Saad."  

الدارمي:٧٨٦أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَسَمِعَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً حِينَ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ أَنَّ الْفُتْيَا الَّتِي كَانُوا يُفْتَوْنَ بِهَا فِي قَوْلِهِ «الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ» رُخْصَةٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِيهَا فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالِاغْتِسَالِ بَعْدُ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وقالَ غَيْرُهُ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ مَنْ أَرْضَى عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

[Machine] Sahl al-Ansari was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ and he had met the Prophet when he was fifteen years old. Ubayy ibn Ka'b told me that the fatwa they used to say, "Water from water is permissible," the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted it in the early days of Islam. Then he commanded us to perform ablution after it.

سَهْلٌ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ فِي زَمَانِهِ حَدَّثَنِي أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ أَنَّ الْفُتْيَا الَّتِي كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ رُخْصَةٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ بِهَا فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَنَا بِالِاغْتِسَالِ بَعْدَهَا

[Machine] Narrated by Sahl bin Saad Al-Ansari, who reached the Prophet ﷺ when he was fifteen years old, he said: "Ubayy bin Ka'ab told me that the fatwa they used to give regarding their saying 'water from water is permissible' was the most lenient ruling that was issued in the early days of Islam. Then we were commanded to perform ablution after it."

[Machine] Sahl bin Saad Al-Ansari had seen the Prophet ﷺ , heard from him, and mentioned that he was 15 years old when the Prophet ﷺ passed away. Ubay bin Ka'ab narrated to me that the fatwa they used to issue was considered permissible, and the Prophet ﷺ had permitted it in the early days of Islam. Then, he ordered the ritual cleansing afterwards.
