The Prophet ﷺ wore a gold ring and then the people followed him and wore gold rings too. Then the Prophet said, "I had this golden ring made for myself. He then threw it away and said, "I shall never put it on." Thereupon the people also threw their rings away.  

اتَّخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنِّي اتَّخَذْتُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَنَبَذَهُ وَقَالَ إِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] took a ring of gold and put it on, and the people started to wear gold rings too. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I used to wear this ring, but I will never wear it again.' Then he threw it away, and the people threw their rings away."  

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَ الذَّهَبِ فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'"  

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَ الذَّهَبِ فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيِمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wear a gold ring. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and threw it away and said, "I will never wear it." He said, "So the people threw away their rings."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَلْبَسُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَنَبَذَهُ وَقَالَ لاَ أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا قَالَ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a gold ring, and so the people took gold rings. Then one day he stood up and said, "I used to wear this ring, but I have now discarded it." So the people discarded their rings.  

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَامَ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ ثُمَّ نَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wear a gold ring, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and threw it away, saying, 'I will never wear it again.' The people threw away their rings as well."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَلْبَسُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَبَذَهُ وَقَالَ لَا أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا قَالَ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5164)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a gold ring, so the people also took gold rings. Then he threw it and said, "I will never wear it." Yazid said, "So the people threw away their rings."  

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَرَمَى بِهِ وَقَالَ لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا قَالَ يَزِيدُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5164)   

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5164)  

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبِسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ
