When Abu Bakr As-Siddiq was chosen Caliph, he said, "My people know that my profession was not incapable of providing substance to my family. And as I will be busy serving the Muslim nation, my family will eat from the National Treasury of Muslims, and I will practice the profession of serving the Muslims."
عَنْ مَئُونَةِ أَهْلِي وَشُغِلْتُ بِأَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَسَيَأْكُلُ آلُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَيَحْتَرِفُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ
[Machine] When Abu Bakr was appointed as ruler, he said, "My people know that my profession is not incapable of providing for my family. I have been occupied with the affairs of the Muslims, and the family of Abu Bakr will eat from this wealth and I will dedicate it to the Muslims."
لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ قَالَ قَدْ عَلِمَ قَوْمِي أَنَّ حِرْفَتِي لَمْ تَكُنْ لِتَعْجَزَ عَنْ مُؤْنَةِ أَهْلِي وَقَدْ شُغِلْتُ بِأَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَسَيَأْكُلُ آلُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَاحْتَرَفَ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ
"عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ: لَقَدْ عَلِمَ قَوْمِى أَنَّ حِرْفَتِى لَمْ تَكُنْ تَعْجِزُ عَنْ مُؤْنَة أَهِلى، وَقَدْ شُغِلْتُ بِأَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَسَيَأَكُلُ آلُ أَبِى بكْرٍ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَأَحْتَرِفُ لِلْمُسْلِميَنَ فِيهِ".
