We set out with the Prophet ﷺ with the intention of performing Hajj only. The Prophet ﷺ reached Mecca and performed Tawaf of the Kaʿba and between Safa and Marwa and did not finish the Ihram, because he had the Hadi with him. His companions and his wives performed Tawaf (of the Kaʿba and between Safa and Marwa), and those who had no Hadi with them finished their Ihram. I got the menses and performed all the ceremonies of Hajj. So, when the Night of Hasba (night of departure) came, I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! All your companions are returning with Hajj and ʿUmra except me." He asked me, "Didn't you perform Tawaf of the Kaʿba (Umra) when you reached Mecca?" I said, "No." He said, "Go to Tanʿim with your brother ʿAbdur-Rahman, and assume Ihram for ʿUmra and I will wait for you at such and such a place." So I went with ʿAbdur-Rahman to Tanʿim and assumed Ihram for ʿUmra. Then Safiya bint Huyay got menses. The Prophet ﷺ said, " 'Aqra Halqa! You will detain us! Didn't you perform Tawaf-al-Ifada on the Day of Nahr (slaughtering)?" She said, "Yes, I did." He said, "Then there is no harm, depart." So I met the Prophet ﷺ when he was ascending the heights towards Mecca and I was descending, or vice-versa.  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلاَ نُرَى إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ فَقَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَلَمْ يَحِلَّ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ فَطَافَ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ وَحَلَّ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ فَحَاضَتْ هِيَ فَنَسَكْنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا مِنْ حَجِّنَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ لَيْلَةُ النَّفْرِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُلُّ أَصْحَابِكَ يَرْجِعُ بِحَجٍّ وَعُمْرَةٍ غَيْرِي قَالَ مَا كُنْتِ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ لَيَالِيَ قَدِمْنَا قُلْتُ لاَ قَالَ فَاخْرُجِي مَعَ أَخِيكِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهِلِّي بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمَوْعِدُكِ مَكَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَخَرَجْتُ مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَىٍّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَقْرَى حَلْقَى إِنَّكِ لَحَابِسَتُنَا أَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَلاَ بَأْسَ انْفِرِي فَلَقِيتُهُ مُصْعِدًا عَلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا مُنْهَبِطَةٌ أَوْ أَنَا مُصْعِدَةٌ وَهُوَ مُنْهَبِطٌ وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ قُلْتُ لاَ  

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we did not see but that he (intended to perform) Hajj (only), but when we reached Mecca we circumambulated the House; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that he who did not have with him a sacrificial animal should put off Ihram. She (A'isha) said: (And consequently) those who did not bring the sacrificial animals with them put off Ihram; and among his wives (too) who had not brought the sacrificial animals with them put off Ihram. A'isha said: I entered my period and could not (therefore) circumambulate the House. When it was the night of Hasba she said: Messenger of Allah, people are coming back (after having performed both) Hajj and'Umra, whereas I am coming back only with Hajj, whereupon he said: Did you not circumambulate (the Ka'ba) that very night we entered Mecca? She (A'isha) said: No, whereupon he said: Go along with your brother to Tan'im and put on the Ihram for Umra, and it is at such and such a place that you can meet (us). (In the meanwhile) Safiyya (the wife of the Holy Prophet) said: I think, I will detain you (since I have entered in the monthly) period and you shall have to wait for me for the farewell circuit). Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: May you be wounded and your head shorn did you not circumambulate on the Day of Sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja)? She said: Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said: There is no harm. You should go forward. 'A'isha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was going upwards to the side of Mecca, whereas I was coming down from it, or I was going upward, whereas he was coming down. Isbiq said: She was climbing down, and he was climbing down.  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلاَ نَرَى إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ الْحَجُّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ تَطَوَّفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْىَ أَنْ يَحِلَّ قَالَتْ فَحَلَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْىَ وَنِسَاؤُهُ لَمْ يَسُقْنَ الْهَدْىَ فَأَحْلَلْنَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَحِضْتُ فَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجَّةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ أَنَا بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَ أَوَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ لَيَالِيَ قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ لاَ قَالَ فَاذْهَبِي مَعَ أَخِيكِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهِلِّي بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ مَوْعِدُكِ مَكَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَتْ صَفِيَّةُ مَا أُرَانِي إِلاَّ حَابِسَتَكُمْ قَالَ عَقْرَى حَلْقَى أَوَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ انْفِرِي قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَلَقِيَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُصْعِدٌ مِنْ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا مُنْهَبِطَةٌ عَلَيْهَا أَوْ أَنَا مُصْعِدَةٌ وَهُوَ مُنْهَبِطٌ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ مُتَهَبِّطَةٌ وَمُتَهَبِّطٌ  

"We went out with the Messenger of Allah not thinking of anything but Hajj. When we came to Makkah we circumambulated the house, then the Messenger of Allah told those who have not brought a Hadi to exit Ihram. So those who have not brought a Hadi exited Ihram. His wives had not brought a HIad so They exited Ihram too." Aishah said: "My menses came so I did not circumambulate the Hous. On the night of Al-Hasbab (the twelfth night of Dhul-Hajjah) I said" "O Messenger of Allah, the people are going back having done Umrah and Hajj, But I am going back having done only Hajj. He said: 'Did you not perform Tawaf when we came to Makkah?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'Then go with your brother to At-Tanim and enter Ihram for Umrah then we will meet you and such and such a place."  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلاَ نُرَى إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْىَ أَنْ يَحِلَّ فَحَلَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْىَ وَنِسَاؤُهُ لَمْ يَسُقْنَ فَأَحْلَلْنَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَحِضْتُ فَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجَّةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ أَنَا بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَ أَوَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ لَيَالِيَ قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ قُلْتُ لاَ قَالَ فَاذْهَبِي مَعَ أَخِيكِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهِلِّي بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ مَوْعِدُكِ مَكَانُ كَذَا وَكَذَا  

[Machine] We went out with the messenger of Allah and all we saw was that it was the season of Hajj. When we arrived, they performed Tawaf (circumambulation around the Kaaba). The messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with them, let him enter the state of Ihram (ritual consecration) for Hajj only." I said, "The messenger of Allah, your wives will return with both Hajj and Umrah, while I will return with only Hajj?" He said to me, "Go with your brother Abdul Rahman to Tan'im, then our meeting will be at such and such place and time." So I met him at night, while he was descending or ascending. Bint Huyayy's daughter said, "I can only see you, I feel trapped." The messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "I feel trapped as well, don't I? Didn't you perform Tawaf on the Day of Sacrifice?" She replied, "Yes." The messenger of Allah ﷺ then said to her, "Now go."  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا نَرَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ الْحَجُّ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا طَافُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِيَحِلَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ قَالَتْ وَكُنْتُ حَائِضًا فَلَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ أَطُوفَ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُالْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ يَرْجِعُ نِسَاؤُكَ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ؟ فَقَالَ لِي انْطَلِقِي مَعَ أَخِيكِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ ثُمَّ مِيعَادُ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنِكِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُهُ بِلَيْلٍ وَهُوَ مُهْبِطٌ أَوْ مُصْعِدٌ قَالَتْ وَقَالَتْ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ مَا أُرَانِي إِلَّا حَابِسَتَكُمْ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَقْرَى حَلْقَى مَا أُرَانِي إِلَّا حَابِسَتَكُمْ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ طُفْتِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَانْفِرِي  

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with the intention of performing only Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Makkah and performed Tawaf without performing the ritual of Ihram. He had brought the sacrificial animals with him, so he performed Tawaf with his wives and companions. Those who did not have sacrificial animals with them completed their rituals, and Safiyyah menstruated, so we completed our rites of Hajj. When it was the night of Hasba, the night of departing from Muzdalifah, Safiyyah said, "O Messenger of Allah, will your companions return with both Hajj and Umrah, and shall I also perform Hajj?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Have you not completed the Tawaf of the nights we arrived?" She said, "No." He said, "Then proceed with your brother to Tan'eem and perform Umrah, and then your appointed place will be so and so." She said, "And I was menstruating." He said, "Either use a pad or shave your head, as you are holding us back. Didn't you perform Tawaf around the Ka'bah on the day of Sacrifice?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Then it's okay, so proceed." She said, "So I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was wearing a thin garment, ascending towards the people of Makkah, while I was descending upon them, or he was descending upon them while I was ascending."  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نُرَى إِلَّا إِنَّمَا هُوَ الْحَجُّ فَقَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ فَطَافَ وَلَمْ يَحْلِلْ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ فَطَافَ مَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَحَلَّ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ وَحَاضَتْ هِيَ فَقَضَيْنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا مِنْ حَجِّنَا فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ لَيْلَةُ النَّفْرِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَرْجِعُ أَصْحَابُكَ بِحَجٍّ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ أَنَا بِحَجٍّ؟ فَقَالَ أَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ لَيَالِيَ قَدِمْنَا؟ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ انْطَلِقِي مَعَأَخِيكِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهِلِّي بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ مَوْعِدُكِ مَكَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَتْ وَحَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ فَقَالَ عَقْرَى أَوْ حَلْقَى إِنَّكِ لَحَابِسَتُنَا أَمَا كُنْتِ طُفْتِ بِالْبَيْتِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ فَانْفِرِي قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مُدْلِجًا وَهُوَ مُصْعِدٌ عَلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا مُنْهَبِطَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ هُوَ مُنْهَبِطٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنَا مُصْعِدَةٌ
