Istikharah and contentment with the decree

bazzar:1051Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā > Abū ʿĀmir > Muḥammad b. Abī Ḥumayd > Ismāʿīl b. Muḥammad b. Saʿd > Muḥammad b. Saʿd > Saʿd

Part of a person's happiness is istikharah (his seeking guidance from his Lord) and his being pleased with what He has decreed, and part of a person's misery is his abandoning istikharah and his displeasure after the decree.

[AI] And this hadith, we do not know it to have been narrated with this wording except from Saʿd, and we do not know anyone who narrated it from Saʿd except his son Muhammad. It was narrated from Ismaʿil by Muhammad ibn Abi Humayd and ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr. As for the hadith of ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated it to us; he said: ʿUmar ibn ʿAli narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr ibn ʿUbayd Allah, a man from Quraysh, narrated to us from Ismaʿil ibn Muhammad ibn Saʿd, from his father, from Saʿd, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with something similar.

A servant's happiness in istikharah and contentment with Allah's decree

bazzar:981Muḥammad b. al-Sakan > ʿImrān b. Abān al-Wāsiṭī > ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakr > Muḥammad b. al-Munkadir > ʿĀmir b. Saʿd > Saʿd

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Part of a servant's happiness is istikharah (his seeking guidance from his Lord) and his being pleased with what He has decreed, and part of a servant's misery is his abandoning istikharah and his displeasure with what Allah has decreed, or after the decree."

This hadith was narrated by Amr b. Ali from Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr from Ismail b. Muhammad ibn Saad, and Imran said: from Abd al-Rahman from Muhammad b. al-Munkadir from Amir b. Saad from his father. And this Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr is weak in hadith.
