[Machine] He informed him that while he was traveling with Umar to Mecca during his caliphate, and with him were the Muhajireen and the Ansar, Umar recited a poem. A man from the people of Iraq said to him, "There is no Iraqi except you, so let him say it, O Amir al-Mu'mineen." Umar felt shy about that and struck his mount until it separated from the convoy.
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ بَيْنَا هُوَ يَسِيرُ مَعَ عُمَرَ ؓ فِي طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ فِي خِلَافَتِهِ وَمَعَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ فَتَرَنَّمَ عُمَرُ ؓ بِبَيْتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ عِرَاقِيٌّ غَيْرُهُ غَيْرُكَ فَلْيَقُلْهَا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَاسْتَحْيَا عُمَرُ ؓ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَضَرَبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ حَتَّى انْقَطَعَتْ مِنَ الْمَوْكِبِ
