bayhaqi:3542Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ from my father

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his eyes to the sky when he prayed, and then the verse would be revealed, "Those who are in their prayer humbly submissive." [Surah Al-Mu'minun 2]. Then he would lower his head. This narration was reported by Hammad ibn Zaid from Ayyub as a mursal narration, and this is the preserved version.

[Machine] The translation is as follows: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his gaze towards the sky when he prayed, and then the verse would descend upon him: 'Those who are humble in their prayers' [Al-Mu'minun 2]. And he would lower his head."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his gaze to the sky when he prayed, and a verse would be revealed to him. I do not know which verse it was, but Muhammad ibn Sirin liked his gaze during prayer to not go beyond his place of prayer. This is the preserved and transmitted narration. It has been narrated from Ismail ibn Ibrahim, who is the son of Aliyyah, in a connected narration.
