bayhaqi:3150Qatādah > al-Ḥasan And Bakr b. ʿAbdullāh > Abū Rāfiʿ > Ṣallayt Khalf ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb Faqanat Baʿd al-Rukūʿ Warafaʿ Yadayh Wajahar Bi-al-Dduʿāʾ > Qatādah Wakān al-Ḥasan Yafʿal

[Machine] May Allah have mercy on him. As for wiping the hands on the face after finishing the supplication, I do not know of anyone from the predecessors who mentioned it in the supplication of Qunut, even though it is narrated from some of them in supplication outside of prayer. And there is a weak narration in which it is mentioned from the Prophet ﷺ, and it is practiced by some of them outside of prayer. But in prayer, it is an action that is not confirmed by a valid narration, an established trace, or an analogy. So it is better not to do it and to limit oneself to what the predecessors did, which is raising the hands without wiping them on the face in prayer. And success is in Allah's hands.  

البيهقي:٣١٥٠وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَبَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ فَقَنَتَ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَجَهَرَ بِالدُّعَاءِ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ يَفْعَلُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَهَذَا عَنْ عُمَرَ ؓ صَحِيحٌ وَرُوِي عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ بِإِسْنَادٍ فِيهِ ضَعْفٌ وَرُوِي عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ فِي قُنُوتِ الْوِتْرِ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ

رَحِمَهُ اللهُ فَأَمَّا مَسْحُ الْيَدَيْنِ بِالْوَجْهِ عِنْدَ الْفَرَاغِ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ فَلَسْتُ أَحْفَظُهُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ السَّلَفِ فِي دُعَاءِ الْقُنُوتِ وَإِنْ كَانَ يُرْوى عَنْ بَعْضِهِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ خَارِجَ الصَّلَاةِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَدِيثٌ فِيهِ ضَعْفٌ وَهُوَ مُسْتَعْمَلٌ عِنْدَ بَعْضِهِمْ خَارِجَ الصَّلَاةِ وَأَمَّا فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَهُوَ عَمَلٌ لَمْ يَثْبُتَ بِخَبَرٍ صَحِيحٍ وَلَا أَثَرٍ ثَابِتٍ وَلَا قِيَاسٍ فَالْأُولَى أَنْ لَا يَفْعَلَهُ وَيَقْتَصِرَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلَهُ السَّلَفُ ؓ مِنْ رَفْعِ الْيَدَيْنِ دُونَ مَسْحِهِمَا بِالْوَجْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ
