[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that when the Imam says Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest), then say it. And when he recites, then listen attentively. Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj reported in Sahih a hadith from Abi 'Awana, from Qatada, with a connected chain of narration other than this wording. Then he followed it up with a narration from Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah and Hisham al-Dastuwayy. Isaac ibn Ibrahim mentioned this narration and then said, "In the hadith of Jarir from Sulayman from Qatada from al-Ziyada, it is reported that when he recites, then listen attentively." Abu 'Ali al-Rudhabari narrated to us that Abu Bakr ibn Dasa said, "Abu Dawud al-Sijistani said, 'And listen attentively' is not preserved in anything." Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz said, "I heard Abu 'Ali al-Hafiz say, 'Jarir contradicts all the companions of Qatada in this hadith. The preserved narration from Qatada is from Hisham al-Dastuwayy and Hammam and Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah and Ma'mar ibn Rashid and Abi 'Awana and al-Hajjaj ibn al-Hajjaj and those who followed them in their narration, meaning other than this wording." Salim ibn Nuh narrated it from Ibn Abi 'Arubah and 'Umar ibn 'Amir from Qatada, but he made a mistake in it. Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz said, "I heard Abu 'Ali al-Hafiz mention it."
