[Machine] You have hit the mark. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ indicate with his finger when he sat for the tashahhud in his prayer. The polytheists used to say that he was casting a spell on them and that the Prophet ﷺ only intended to establish monotheism.  

البيهقي:٢٧٩٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ثنا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَصْبَغِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي أَنَسٍ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ خُفَافِ بْنِ إِيمَاءِ بْنِ رَحَضَةَ فَرَآنِي أُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ ابْنَ أَخِي لِمَ تَفْعَلُ هَذَا؟ قُلْتُ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ خِيَارَ النَّاسِ وَفُقَهَاءَهُمْ يَفْعَلُونَهُ قَالَ

قَدْ أَصَبْتَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ إِذَا جَلَسَ يَتَشَهَّدُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يَسْحَرُنَا وَإِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ التَّوْحِيدَ
