[Machine] The Muslims did not know the end of the chapter until "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim" was revealed. When "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim" was revealed, they knew that the chapter had ended, and so on.  

البيهقي:٢٣٧٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْغَزِّيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ

كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ انْقِضَاءَ السُّورَةِ حَتَّى تَنْزِلَ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فَإِذَا نَزَلَتْ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ عَلِمُوا أَنَّ السُّورَةَ قَدِ انْقَضَتْ وَكَذَلِكَ  

رَوَاهُ دُحَيْمُ بْنُ النُّعَيْمِ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَصَرَ بِهِ فَلَمْ يَذْكُرُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ
