[Machine] It is to speak with words that, if expressed by them, would be lies, then oppose them with other words that agree with those words in wording but contradict them in meaning, so that the listener thinks that was intended. His saying "mandūḥah" which means spaciousness and room, the Shaykh said this is only permissible in order to repel harm and not to cause harm to others. As for causing harm to others, it is not permissible.  

البيهقي:٢٠٨٤٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْكَارِزِيُّ أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْمَعَارِيضُ أَنْ يُرِيدَ الرَّجُلُ

أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِالْكَلَامِ الَّذِي إِنْ صَرَّحَ بِهِ كَانَ كَذِبًا فَيُعَارِضَهُ بِكَلَامٍ آخَرَ يُوَافِقُ ذَلِكَ الْكَلَامَ فِي اللَّفْظِ وَيُخَالِفُهُ فِي الْمَعْنَى فَيَتَوَهَّمَ السَّامِعُ أَنَّهُ أَرَادَ ذَلِكَ وَقَوْلُهُ مَنْدُوحَةً يَعْنِي سَعَةً وَفُسْحَةً قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذَا إِنَّمَا يَجُوزُ فِيمَا يَرُدُّ بِهِ ضَرَرًا وَلَا يَرْجِعُ بِالضَّرَرِ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ وَأَمَّا فِيمَا يَضُرُّ غَيْرَهُ فَلَا
